To provide them a source of food, Doraemon also leaves a food-producing machine to the pets and makes a dog slightly smarter to operate the machine by evolving it using the gadget Evolution-Degeneration Beam. After some failures to find adequate places for the pets, Doraemon and Nobita send them to the past where there is plenty of space, and no human or any other dangerous animal threatening them, so they can live on their own.
